Kansas! - July 16

Overnight in Eads the wind was blowing like crazy! If I was back in Lancaster, I would assume such a wind was the harbinger of a massive storm.

Now, it is always windy in Kansas and Eastern Colorado, but it usually calms down overnight, and yet it was still blowing and blowing at 3 a.m. It was still windy when we left town at 5:45, but it wasn't so terrible. I mean, it is terrible, but it is also possible to deal with it, especially in the cool of the morning.

But by afternoon, when it gets into the 90s, well -- enough is enough! Luckily, due to our early start, we were at our destination of Leoti by 1:30, although it was actually 2:30 since we're now in the Central time zone.

When it was all said and done, we had ridden 80 miles and made it to Kansas.

Tomorrow, we hope to get to Ness City -- or beyond.
