Breckenridge to Royal Gorge - July 13

Hoosier Pass was the last major pass of the trip, taking us to an elevation of 11,542 - the highest we'll get. We started early from Breckenridge and were at the top by 8:30. It looks all downhill from the top. And while we did drop some 5,000 feet from Hoosier Pass, it wasn't as glorious as it could have been because of ferocious headwinds that made the descent a struggle.

I was anticipating an incredible downhill ride out of the mountains since that is what this stretch was in 1987. This time the wind was unreasonable.

We stopped short of Canon City and plan to get a little beyond Pueblo tomorrow, which will put is squarely in the plains, and out of the mountains.
